The landscaping has been completed except for some annual plantings that will be planted closer to the building opening. The parking lot has also been completed with adding the top layer of asphalt and painting the stripes in the parking lot. The indoor air testing is underway for the LEED certification process and should be completed within a week. Visits and work inside the building will be minimal during this testing period. We also expect to receive the certificate of occupancy in the next two weeks.

April 27, 2010 - work has continued over the last couple of weeks on the interior and exterior landscaping of the building. This picture shows the view of the lobby from the front door with almsot all of the interior finished in that area. We are within a few weeks of completion and the building and lot are beginning to look complete – landscaping almost complete, interiors finished, smaller details being cared for. Over the next few weeks, the final layer of asphalt will be poured, furniture delivered and final touches added. After the construction is done, the building will be closed for three weeks in early May to allow for indoor air quality testing for the LEED certification process. With this schedule in place, we should be ready for the dedication service on June 6.

January 5, 2010 - In the last few weeks over the holidays, there has been much progress despite the weather. Stone has been put down on the parking lot areas and it is ready to be paved when the weather allows. On the exterior of the building, the roof and brickwork have been completed. The windows throughout the building are almost complete and the main entrance and other side doors, etc. should be completed within the next week. Paint has been applied to the second floor exterior and the color contrast around the windows can be seen in this picture best on the areas in the shade of the trees. On the interior of the building, the electricians, mechanical contractors, plumbers and sprinkler contractors have completed most of their rough ins along with the interior partitions being framed and insulated.

December 16, 2009 - The building site is busy! A NCC crew spent two days this week walking the building to look at plans for electrical and data connections. While there, brickwork was underway as well as windows being placed on both floors. In some places in the interior hallways, some drywall was up where the electrical work would not be affected. Work was also continuing on the ductwork for HVAC and paint colors were being tested for the exterior of the second floor. Rain has delayed work on the parking lot a bit but crews were hard at work on the lot on the days the NCC crew was there and the site supervisor was hoping for a few days of no rain to get more substantial progress made on the parking lot.

November 6, 2009 - Progress was made this week on the brickwork on the back (north side) of the building. This is the side that faces Highway 70 and can be seen through the trees from Highway 70. The brickwork shows a darker brick and mortar on the bottom and top edges and in the border around the windows. The brick inside that dark border is a red clay brick with a lighter mortar to tie in the beige/tan color planned for the second floor finish. The bricks used are made here in NC. Inside the building, progress was made on setting the metal frames for the interior walls. Most of the walls were completed but there were still areas with walls being constructed. There is lots to show from this week’s progress so there are more photos from this week in the photo gallery.

September 26, 2009 - All outer walls are in place! The last of the outer walls was lifted into place on Saturday so we now have all four walls standing. The walls are currently braced but will be affixed to a steel frame over the next couple of weeks as the frame is built.

|
September 18, 2009 - The outer walls on the north, east and west sides of the building were poured and erected this week. We are utilizing a construction method referred to as tilt up construction in which the outer concrete walls are poured, allowed to cure, and then tilted up to form the outer walls of the building. After the outer walls are in place, the metal structure will be built and affixed to the concrete walls to form the inner frame of the building.

September 4, 2009 - The slab for the first floor was poured and work began this week on the flooring for the first floor. This picture shows the framework being installed for the first floor. Work also continued on leveling the area of the lot that will be the parking lot. The parking lot will receive a layer of asphalt to provide for a more stable work surface for the equipment when the building frame and wall work begins. The final layer of asphalt will be laid after the project is mostly complete.

August 25, 2009 - work began this week on the rough-in for plumbing and electricity for the foundation. This is in preparation for the foundation to be poured in the next couple of weeks. This picture shows that rough-in work being done as well as the borders being completed for the foundation. The first layer of asphalt was laid for the driveway. This will allow easier entrance to the worksite during the project. As land is leveled, the parking lot will also receive a layer of asphalt to provide for a more stable work surface for the equipment when the building frame and wall work begins. The final layer of asphalt will be laid after the project is mostly complete.

August 14, 2009 - work was completed this week in pouring the building footers. This picture shows the building site from the northwest corner looking towards the southeast (from the back left corner if looking at the building from the front). The column footers are being dug so that the concrete can be poured for those. The curbing for the driveway was poured this week and the drive is ready for rocks to be laid next week. The plumbers and electricians will begin rough-in of the foundation for the first floor next week.

July 31, 2009 - The leveling of the driveway and building site was completed this week and the subgrading was installed to prepare to pave the drive. The building pad has been laid out and ready for footers to be dug next week. The overflow parking under the power lines is about half way complete and should be finished in the next week or so. This overflow parking lot is visible from Highway 70 East just before the Greenfield Parkway exit.

| July 24, 2009 - work continued this week on the driveway going to the north side of the lot and leveling the ground for the building site. Rain slowed the progress on the drive because the road was too wet for paving due to a series of heavy afternoon thunderstorms. This picture shows the build up of the driveway to prepare for paving so that the construction vehicles will have easy access to the building site. Once the site work is complete and the stormwater drainage ditches are in place, there should not be continued issues with stormwater drainage. | ![]() |
