Taylor Continues Coordinating Conference Haiti Disaster Response

Posted under: NC Conference

Due to the recent disaster in Haiti and the need for a coordinated response from the NC Conference, Steve Taylor will continue to work in disaster response until February 28. Previously the Director of Missions and Justice Ministry, Taylor was one of four whose positions were discontinued effective January 22. A fifth position also was discontinued, although the director of that position will remain on the staff until his retirement in June. Taylor has provided disaster response coordination since the earthquake hit Haiti, establishing a plan for district efforts and working with medical, military and other humanitarian relief agencies to meet the needs of the victims in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

    I echo those who have already thanked you for what you have done and are doing both in the Haiti Relief, and the many other ways in which you helped this Conference be the hands and feet of Christ. God bless you!

  6. Steve Hickle says:

    Steve! You continue to be a true gift to the people of our conference, enabling us to respond beyond any capacity ever shown before. And thank you for working to bring on board the staff and asset network that is Stop Hunger Now. Coordinating such work with UMCOR and our own MERCI center gets pretty boggling, mind- and otherwise! Keep on keepin’ on!!

  7. Mike Leburg says:

    it stills seems weird to me that there would be a time planned when no one was supposed to be doing such things…empty positions in the raleigh building…who thought that was a good idea???

  8. William Hill Pearsall, Sr. says:

    Where are the other many responses that were posted, which dealt more with the vacancies and how they came about?

  9. Derek says:

    @William,

    Which responses do you mean? I think you are thinking of the earlier news post about the staff re-alignment. That post is now on the archives page.
