The Transition Team encourages you to have discussion about the upcoming changes to the districts in the NC conference and to provide feedback to the team. A survey was available through the end of August to gather your reflections and advice on this transition in general.
A listing has now been published showing the placement of all churches in the NC Conference within the new proposed district lines. The Transition Team requests that you review this listing and provide feedback if it seems that your church might better be aligned with a different district than is proposed. This is of particular importance for the churches near district lines.
Deadline for submitting requests has passed.

Observations:
–One district appears much smaller in geography than the other seven
–Number of charges in each district are not always close to equal.
The men who were to be Raleigh District UMM officers for 2012 are now in three different districts!
New alignment is based upon missional capacity and total population of each are as well as projected growth expectancy and not the number of church/charges in that area.
This redistricting is going to also affect the UMVIM districting. Still a bit confused at why the Raleigh district is now four different districts. I’m not sure I like that arrangement.
Zion church has inadvertently been omitted from the Wilmington District list for District 7. It is located in Leland, right outside of Wilmington so District 7 is where it needs to go, it’s just not on the list.
Why is this redistricting necessary?
i AM NOT AWARE OF ANY BENEFITS OF THE DISTRICT CHANGE THEREFOR i OBJECT TO THE DISTRICT CHANGE.
Please let me know of the change benefit.

It look like they consulted the NC General Assembly in drawing the district lines. I think Wake County was divided up so that 4 districts could have larger and richer churches. I am not too thrilled about dividing counties.
I suggest we redraw the lines with boundaries that already exist (county lines for instance) as your primary starting point. How do you envision churches in Raleigh working together in partnership with other church and non-profits in Raleigh when you align them with churches outside the Raleigh area?
Bethel UMC in Pitt County might be better suited to be in District 8 with the rest of Pitt County (rather than in District 3).
With similar reasoning, the Conetoe-Hobgood Charge might be better suited to be in District 2 with the rest of Edgecombe County (rather than in District 3).
Erwin /Parkers Grove in the Fayetteville district needs to be in District six rather than district five. The United Methodist Women were upset when they learned of the change. I respectfully request that the Erwin/ Parkers Grove charge be placed in District 6.
Blessings and peace
