Love for Liberia – Empowerment Ministry – Missionary Newsletter – Frido KinkolengePosted under: Alleviating Poverty and Hunger, Global Outreach, Love for Liberia, Missions
And the Prophet Isaiah 40:31 adds “…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (NIV)
Dear Brothers and Sisters in the soon coming King Jesus, even as we gather here in this medium that has become a ground of meeting of our partnership in this ministry to the less fortunate children and youth in Liberia; bringing you greetings from Betty my wife, Josiane my daughter, my staff and all the children and youths, we are saddened with a war in Darfur, in the eastern DRC where boys and girls are victims of atrocities; saddened of religious conflict which may tear apart Nigeria; saddened of people in the Sudan who have gone days – maybe weeks — without a meal…
These are images we must hold close to us as we have embarked these past years in Giving or restoring Hope in Liberia, because in the midst of these types of scenarios, there were young children that were seeking to hold fast to life: to claim everything that God has for them and hopes for them. It is a struggle, and they cannot do it alone.
You and I are a TEAM OF PARTNERS – MEN AND WOMEN - dedicated to God’s children, not counting the cost, that these
Children might have the hand of fellowship, might know a sign of God, and might feel a sense of care. This is the continued vision I have kept in the four programs you are dearly supporting: creating structures that help make life more meaningful. It is a vision of hope and activity of God for each and every one of us who cries out. To use the gifts that God has given us to enable these children to embrace all the possibilities at the Brighter Future Children Rescue Center in Buchanan, at CESPRO in Kakata, at My Daughters’ Place in Tubmanville and Feed My Lamb in Pipe Line Community.
HOLDING ON TO HOPE
It is a challenge in this time of economic forces that hit the world but because you are hoping in the Lord, you have provided a bigger generator at the Brighter Future Children rescue Center in Buchanan.
It is an OCCASION FOR JOY!
This is a light breaking the cloud of hindrances that covered BFC in the past because we are operating the Woodwork shop with its machines thanks to this generator.
I have introduced electronic typing at BFC:
AN OCCASION FOR JOY
From now on, children in the sewing department will learn designing machines while the carpenters will not only learn power tools but also generate incomes that can make their lives more meaningful. That is keeping our vision alive. AN OCCASION FOR JOY!
On the other hand, little glimmers of hope come as “in all things God works for the good of those who love him” (Romans 8:28 NIV). Keeping with the vision, I have introduced an Agriculture department that is functional and has planted 54 pineapple heads, some plantings, has harvested some vegetables and is engaged in vegetables crops planting with extension to raising the fish in the swamp: it is truly AN OCCASION FOR JOY!
Finding the courage or energy to labor in God’s vineyard in the midst of economic crisis and go on means looking to the Lord for strength for us and healing for the children who have learnt to recognize God’s mercy and blessings as some are supported in school.
To refresh your memory, the BFC Rescue Center is operating, under your support, a psychosocial counseling section, a Literacy and Numeracy in two folds, graphic arts, a manual and electronic typing, a pastry / baking, textile tie and dyed, computer literacy, soap making, cosmetology – hair dressing with its new mannequin heads, sewing and crocheting with its new designing machines, a computer literacy with newer computers…ULTIMATE OCCASION FOR JOY!
PRINCE OF PEACE
In this quarter where we were thinking about the name of wondrous love – Prince of Peace – we organized a festival of peace for one week covering October 25th to October 30th. Children were trained in Peace building capacity. Learning peace that sustains them in moments of rejection by the communities they destroyed before is one of the major teachings we conduct at the BFC Rescue center. See children in studio and in the communities with drama, songs, jokes, recitation and media show centered on peace.
It was not only a week of training but also a time of experience sharing on issues affecting youths; a competitive time on general and biblical knowledge; a time of relaxation with lots of recreational activities like.
The cosmetology department has been improved and well equipped to serve both as training class but also as a mini-beauty salon to allow trainees generate some funds for their sustainability. And this is bringing OCCASION FOR JOY! to the youths as shown on this image.
The paroxysm of our OCCASION OF JOY! is that with the new generator again, we had to rewire the entire campus to accommodate the power flowing in all our devices, appliances and equipment.
Within the CHILDREN EMPOWERED FOR SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM in Kakata, there is more OCCASION OF JOY as I have reinstalled a new computer lab with computers that will allow my girls to get access to A+ Program as God continues to bless us in Ministry through your tireless efforts that are bringing a lot of smile on the faces of the children and youths.
Pursuing excellence and efficiency, when the zeal became dim down in some training staff members, I organized a quick and prompt three day workshop to remind them their role in the children’s lives recovery process, my staff expressed OCCASIONS OF JOY!
I must recognize God’s grace in the midst of all activities and programs this ministry where one more
OCCASION OF JOY is felt when, in those efforts to secure projects’ equipment, I presented to the security guards in Kakata new bicycles to help them move easily.
MICROENTERPRISE, OCCASION OF JOY!
This is an initiative to respond to the need of self employment and make our graduating girls exposed the real world of business; gain exposure; generate money and get paid a percentage out of their intakes.
As you helped us to rent this place and renovate it to fit one shop as Beauty Salon,
one for tailoring shop, another one serves for a mini restaurant operated by the Pastry / Baking as I introduced nutrition in the program; the back rooms are allocated for typing and computer desktop publisher; Tie and dye and soap sales while one constitutes a warehouse. Former CESPRO students are assigned there and are mentoring the girls in training. What a joy!
Committed to using God’s gifts to us, I have improved My Daughters’ Place Program in Tubmanville township where Teen Mothers, under your support are learning family planning, sex education, and HIV/AIDS awareness; have found warmth and love through counseling sessions while they are trained in Pastry/baking, Soap making, tie and dye, sewing and crocheting.
And we provide babies care while the mothers are in training.
YES! These happenings are the results of your love, your dedication and commitment to God’s kingdom on earth. You have made this possible through your donations, your prayers, just a word to embrace these children who felt less important, fearing rejection; and marginalized.
I do agree with Martin Luther and the prophet Isaiah that we have more OCCASIONS OF JOY as Christ lives in us and is allowing us to soar like eagles in giving hope and smile to the vulnerable poor children and youth even in economic toughness; He energizes us. Hallelujah!
May the Lord take your hands and lead you each day, AMEN!
