New Candidacy Process
As of November 2011, the NC Conference will be utilizing a new process for those seeking to become certified candidates for ministry (both licensed and ordained). This revised process was born out of conversation with District Superintendents, candidates for ministry, and other UMC Annual Conferences who have also revised their process. In addition, this new process will align with recommendations made by the Study of Ministry Commission. Our hope is that these changes will help to streamline the candidacy process, thereby making it more hospitable and encouraging to those responding to a call.
- If you were enrolled in the candidacy process and assigned a mentor prior to November 15, 2011, you will continue to meet one-on-one with your mentor and complete the steps listed here. If you were not yet assigned a mentor, you will need to contact your District Superintendent to discern how best to move forward.
- Those who enroll as candidates for ministry after November 15, 2011 will begin with the new process.
More information about the new process can be found here.
