BK912 Giving our Hearts Away: Native American Survival
Giving Our Hearts Away: Native American Survival is a short, straightforward narrative of the history of what is now The United States, from a Native American perspective. This is not a study filled with romantic tales of history lost in the mist of time. This is a story of the Native peoples of America and what became of them as immigrants arrived from every direction seeking wealth, freedom and new territory. This is also a story filled with pathos as unimaginable events unfold out of the clash of cultures and the competing ideologies born of religious practices and spiritual lifestyles intertwined with the material needs of a new federal government and its territories. Issues and conditions relating to America’s Native people, long believed to be settled or dead, are here outlined as current and ongoing challenges to the continued survival of the first people of The United States. This book was the 2009 Mission Study and includes notes and discussion starters related to the study.
