Kindle eBooks
The Media Center has a growing collection of Kindle eBooks that we have acquired when they were being offered at a promotional price of free. Amazon allows Kindle eBook owners to loan each title to one other person once. The Media Center would like to use this policy to loan our collection to our users that are interested in borrowing eBooks. Please read the Kindle eBooks Lending Policy below for more information:
Kindle eBook Lending Policy
- You do not need to own a Kindle to borrow Kindle eBooks. Amazon offers many free tools that can be used to read Kindle eBooks:
- Kindle on Your Smartphone or Tablet: In your App Store, you can find a free Kindle app for iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android & Windows Phone 7.
- Kindle on Your Computer: Download the free Kindle software for Windows or for Macs.
- Kindle in Your Internet Browser: The new Kindle Cloud Reader allows you to read Kindle eBooks from a Google Chrome or Safari web browser, both of which are free to download. Kindle Cloud Reader is accessible through your Amazon account and can be set up to read offline.
- Each Kindle eBook Can Only Be Loaned Once. Amazon’s current policy is that each Kindle eBook can only be loaned once – not once per person, but once period. Therefore, if one of our eBooks has already been loaned, it will be removed from the list of available titles.
- Each Loan Period is Two Weeks, No Renewals. This is an Amazon policy. We can only loan the book for two weeks. If you are unable to finish the book, we will not be able to loan it to you again. Please note the number of book pages before borrowing.
- Highlights and Notes Stay On Your Device. None of your highlights, bookmarks, or notes will be transferred back to us when the book is returned. They stay on your device so that if you decide to buy the book, the notes will still be there.
- Limitations: The Media Center is currently limiting our selection policy to Kindle eBooks that we can acquire for free.
- Feedback: We are greatly interested in your feedback about borrowing eBooks. Please complete the short eBook Lending Survey to let us know how you feel about borrowing eBooks from the NC Conference Media Center.
