If you are already using an e-mail program on your computer to check your clergy e-mail account you will need to change a few settings in order to start accessing your e-mail on the Google Apps servers.  In order to start using your e-mail program you must first activate the POP3 or IMAP services in your Google Apps mailbox.

Follow these steps to activate these services:

  • Log into your Google Apps mailbox by browsing to https://mail.google.com/a/nccumc.org.
  • Click the Settings link in the upper right hand corner of the Google Apps Interface.
  • Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP link.  You should see the following interface:

  • Choose the appropriate options for your preference and click the Save button.

Once you have enabled POP3 and/or IMAP services for your Google Apps account you can change the settings for your e-mail program.  The following information should be used to configure these new settings:

  • POP3 Server: pop.gmail.com
  • POP3 SSL Port number: 995
  • SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
  • SMTP SSL Port number: 465
  • IMAP Server: imap.gmail.com
  • IMAP SSL Port number: 993
  • User name: Your full nccumc.org e-mail address
  • Password: Your Google Apps password

Please note: You must use the Conference’s server information listed above when configuring your e-mail programs even if the screen shots show other addresses.

In the following examples you should use the above information even if the examples are different.  You can get help on configuring your particular e-mail program at the links listed below:
