I wondered about the names when I first heard them. I too expected some geographical or biblical names but today I heard the reasoning and they make perfect sense. To me, they seem like they have more of a family feel which is what we should want. We are all members of God's great kingdom and we should be like families. I am grateful for the hard work you've done and can't wait to here all the other news you will provide us with. It's very exciting to see the changes coming and feel sure they will bring us together with a new energized heart and new goals of helping our churches deal with the changing face of the world and adding new brothers and sisters to walk with. God bless you for all your hard work to pull this together in the short time you were given!

Having known and worked with Gray since he was a pastor in Wilson in the Rocky Mount District, I was delighted at the news he is our nominee for Bishop. He is certainly deserving and capable, a proven leader, clearly loves Jesus, and I would feel privileged to be one of his flock.

If the names of the new districts is generating the most complaits, then the committee has done a wonderful job. Personally, I like naming the districts after geographic features like cities or towns, or even directions over the options listed. But, I'm sure I can live with these options. I just think the typical member will not have a "feel" for where each district is.

While this must certainly have been an enormous project to undertake, I do have to agree that the names of the districts do sound a bit like scout districts. Perhaps something biblical might have congered up more enthusiasm and less skepticism. Regardless of my humble opinion, and it is just that, an opinion, thank you for your hard work on this project.

"Fairway" district sounds like it should be made up of country clubs, not churches. If the transition team doesn't rename all the districts, could they reconsider at least this one?

Thank you to the transition team, and all the difficult tasks you have at hand. I am grateful for your work.

I was wondering too about the naming of the Districts, as I'd thought the consensus was to go with the compass-type indicators. For those churches in their new Districts who do not relate to their name, this may be a stretch. For instance, the churches in the new Capital District that are not in the Capital, or churches from the Harbor District who do not live near a harbor, may wonder if they are as key to those districts as the churches who are, for instance in the examples given, in the Capital or near a harbor. The very reasons we did away with the city names would be the reasons I wonder why we have new names which seem pretty geographically specific.

In short, going with the compass designations seemed to be the suggestion which fit the best, in my opinion.

Regardless, we will certainly strive forward with whatever the names are. I know that you will never please everyone, so take this as a voice from one who will be behind the changes 100%, no matter what.

Are the new names for the districts "set in stone"? I think geographic areas NE N NW etc would be much more user friendly.

I, too, agree that the names as proposed are terrible. I like the suggestion related to directions: northeast, southwest, central, etc. Please rethink the names.

I am pleased and not surprised to see Jennifer Copeland receive this award. It is not easy to stay in one ministry setting for a long period of time and yet still have effective ministry and Disciple making happening!
We all stand in awe!
