Mission and Discipleship Workshop

Posted under: District Transition, Events

The Conference Transition Team invites pastors and one lay leader from each church to attend a Mission & Discipleship Workshop to learn more about the NC Conference pursuit of a new paradigm for ministry including the shift from 12 to 8 districts.

The workshop will also help church laity understand why the role of the District Superintendent has been redefined.  Traditionally, the DSs specific duties were spelled out in the Discipline, but mentoring and visioning with local pastors and churches have been added to the current duties.

Exploration of recapturing the simplicity and power of the UM tradition, along with expressing the heart of the Conference’s new direction, will also be focal points of this event.

Hosted by the leaders of 3DM*, the course will be offered from 9 am-3:30 pm on November 27 & 28 at Millbrook UMC, 127 East Millbrook Rd, Raleigh NC, and again on November 29 at St James UMC’ 2000 East Sixth St., Greenville, NC.

The workshop is free and lunch is included.

Pre-registration is required. Participants must register for one day only, choosing the date that best accommodates their needs.

*3DM trains church leaders in discipleship and mission. 3DM leaders have trained NCCUMC District Superintendents and many Conference pastors.
