Celebration Welcoming Bishop Ward

A worship service celebrating the assignment of Bishop Hope Morgan Ward as resident bishop of the North Carolina Conference will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, at Edenton Street UMC in Raleigh, beginning at 4pm.

With the assignment by the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference in late July, Bishop Ward is returning to her home conference. She was the Raleigh District superintendent when elected a bishop in 2004.

For the past eight years, she has served as the bishop of the Mississippi Conference. After the service, a reception will be held in Kerr Hall so attendees may greet Bishop Ward and her husband, Mike Ward.

The service is open to all conference clergy and laypersons and other interested individuals. Officials at Edenton Street UMC have suggested that the parking deck, one block east of the church, 100 W. Edenton St., can be used by anyone attending the celebration.

If anyone is unable to attend in person, the celebration will be live streamed on the Video Dashboard.
